Aerohive simplifies enterprise networking by reducing the cost and complexity of today's networks.
Aerohive Ships Bonjour Gateway, an Apple Mobile Device Management Enrollment Solution and Two New 802.11n Access Points
Sunnyvale, Calif. — July 23, 2012 — Aerohive Networks, the pioneer in controller-less Wi-Fi and cloud-enabled enterprise networking, today announced the general availability of its HiveOS 5.1 and HiveManager 5.1. These new upgraded systems provide several significant enhancements including Bonjour Gateway and recently announced JAMF Software Mobile Device Management (MDM) integration for more granular control and management of customers’ BYOD dilemma and advanced reporting dashboards to help reduce troubleshooting.
In addition to the release of 5.1, Aerohive is delivering two new 802.11n access points (APs): AP121 and AP141. Designed to provide greater throughput and coverage, these two new APs are offered at a cost-effective price point ideal for education, healthcare, retail and distributed enterprise environments.
Aerohive HiveOS 5.1
Aerohive’s HiveOS 5.1 now provides end users with Bonjour Gateway and JAMF Software Mobile Device Management (MDM) integration as part of this free upgrade to all customers with a valid support contract.
Aerohive’s Bonjour Gateway, announced in March, enables management and control of Apple’s® “Zero-Configuration Networking” technology, called Bonjour®, to make services such as AirPrint™ and AirPlay® usable across large, multi-subnet networks regardless of the underlying topology.
Bonjour Gateway leverages the distributed intelligence and service-aware capabilities of Aerohive’s Cooperative Control architecture. This approach and the awareness of the Bonjour protocol allow Aerohive to control Bonjour on any network, limit unnecessary service updates and filter unwanted services, or devices, from being advertised across subnets.
- In June, Aerohive and JAMF Software teamed up to develop a new integrated solution that enables comprehensive management of Apple devices, control of eBook and App distribution and automates and enforces enrollment of devices to ensure compliance with school policy
HiveManager and HiveManager Online 5.1
Aerohive’s HiveManager and HiveManager Online have been upgraded to version 5.1 to include enhanced reporting functionality, secure auto-configuration for branch routers and topology folders.
Several significant enhancements have been made to the reporting dashboards in HiveManager for greater user and device visibility to simplify troubleshooting. Executive summary reporting provides at-a-glance reports for all major statistics across the network.
- HiveManager 5.1 now includes Topology Folders that simplify organizing multiple sets of Aerohive devices into logical groups such as geography, office type, or employee type.
New Aerohive AP121 and AP141 Access Points
In addition to the release of 5.1, Aerohive is delivering two new 2x2:2 802.11n access points (APs): AP121 and AP141. These APs include high powered radios and high RX sensitivity that provide high performance, better coverage, and lower error rates all in a sleek, 1-inch thin, lightweight chassis.
The AP121 features internal antennas for seamless blending into any environment. The AP141 features the same 1-inch thin chassis with external antennas for maximum deployment flexibility.
- AP121 and AP141 provide enterprise features and performance at an entry-level price point ideal for education, healthcare, retail, and distributed enterprise environments.
